Ladies, accessories can make or break a look. They can turn a plain Jane ensemble into something to talk about, or be the perfect complement to a dazzling frock. If you're donning an outfit in navy blue and gray your color choices when it comes to accessories are positively endless. Both shades can be considered neutral, which means they match with just about anything. They also serve as a beautiful backdrop if you want to add a pop of color.

Gold

Feel free to be a total gold digger in your navy and gray ensemble. Your favorite karats are a great pairing for this color combination. Gold adds a hint of glint to these otherwise muted shades. On the flip side, gold against gray and navy never feels gaudy. Depending on the ensemble, this combination can even feel regal. Add a simple gold pendant and a pair of gold studs for a more demure approach. Or pick an oversized gold necklace or cuff to really make a statement. Know, though, that gold jewelry looks better on warm skin tones, or those gals with greenish veins, then cool skin tones. Take this into consideration before you choose your accessories.

Silver

Wear silver jewelry with your navy blue and gray ensemble if you're a lass with a cool skin tone, or bluish veins. Silver is simple, and pairing it with this neutral based ensemble allows you to get creative with the shape and style of your accessories. Be bold! Rock an over-the-top architectural necklace or a long pendant with a bevy of charms. For those who love their earrings to be the statement piece, skip the studs and choose long, dangly chain-link or chandelier earrings. Add a wrist full of silver bangles or a gothic knuckle ring to finish off the look.

Pop of Color

Since navy and gray are considered neutrals, they create a fantastic backdrop to really show off a pop of color. Don't be shy, go for rich tones such as ruby red, magenta, yellow and orange. You can even go semi-monochromatic by wearing accessories in blue tones, including royal, teal or turquoise. This is your chance to indulge in fabulously bejeweled pieces, or to sport layers of pretty beads. Mix and match accessories in complementary colors, such as a fire engine red necklace with a bright yellow clutch.

Neutrals

Yes, you do run the risk of looking drab if you pair the wrong neutral accessories with this already muted color combination. Stay away from black, gray and navy pieces -- they'll only have you fading into the background. Instead choose white or brown accessories. This includes wearing modern acrylic pieces in winter white, ivory or cream. If you're feeling more demure, try a pretty strand of white pearls. Wooden jewelry is also an option, and like silver, it offers a great way to wear necklaces and earrings in interesting and unexpected shapes.
