Use eye shadow colors that complement your dark brown tresses and become the new "it" girl. Eye shadow shades that flatter vary by skin color and tone. Determine your skin's tone with the help of gold and silver scarves. Gaze in a mirror and drape the gold scarf over your chest first, then the silver one. You are warm toned if the gold color lights up your pretty face and cool toned if the silver one does the trick. Put all the pieces together to find the eye shadow colors that will get you attention for all the right reasons.

Warm Tones With Light Skin

Warm colors that complement your light skin tone and dark hair color look best on you. Apply a medium shade of brown, copper or olive green to your eyelid. Use a dark shade of the same color as your contour eye shadow. Sweep a candlelight shade on your lids as the highlight color. Line your eyes with a medium brown eye pencil and add few coats of black brown mascara.

Warm Tones With Dark Skin

If your dark brown hair surrounds a dark skinned and warm toned face, your best shades are deep earth colors. Slide on shades of chocolate, moss or forest green for your base eye shadow color and use a darker shade to accent your eyes. Highlight your eyes with bronze or gold tone shadows. Metallic shades look hot with your dark coloring and give an extra sparkle to your eyes. Complete your look with dark brown eyeliner and mascara.

Cool Tones With Light Skin

Select cool eye shadow shades with no yellow undertones if your dark brown hair dances next to light, cool toned skin. Your best look is a medium shade of gray, plum or teal as your base eye shadow and a dark shade of the same color as an accent. Apply a pale pink or pure white eye shadow shade as your highlight color. Navy mascara and eyeliner are great daytime choices for your eyes and switch to a smoky black when you go out for a night on the town.

Cool Tones With Dark Skin

Rich jewel-toned eye shadows look fabulous with your dark brown hair color and cool toned dark skin. Choose a deep purple, plum or teal shadow to sweep across your eyelids as a base. Apply an accent of an even darker shade of the same color, then highlight your lids with a deep pink shadow color. Finish with a dark indigo eyeliner and true black mascara.
