Almond eyes are well-balanced, having the classic eye shape. To make your brown almond-shaped eyes really dazzle and shine, it's all about using the right shadow. Avoid yellows, beiges and taupes if you have olive skin, as they are going to bring out any yellow in your skin instead of making your eyes look rich and radiant. Stick with colors that complement your eyes and skin tone -- and apply the shadow properly to accent the almond shape.
Brown
To really bring out the brown color in your eyes, try a shadow in the same shade. Apply an eye shadow in the exact same hue as your eyes to your lids, or go with a different shade of brown to create a subtle contrast. As long as you stay in the same color family, the shadow will bring out the brown color of your eyes and make them stand out -- best of all, it works on all skin tones. Apply a darker brown shade on the outer corners to open up your almond-shaped eyes. Add a coat of mascara in dark brown or black, focusing on the outer lashes to make your eyes look even larger.
Black
A smoky eye looks sultry and smoldering on brown eyes, making it a really ideal style for any special occasion -- and any skin tone. With a lighter, more subtle version of the smoky eye, you can wear it during the day, as well. For an authentic smoky eye look, use a charcoal gray shadow over your lids, then blend in the black shadow, starting at the outer corners of your eyes and working in. To make your eyes open up a bit and look rounder, apply a dab of a lighter shadow -- silver or white -- over the center of your lid.
Purple
To pack a real punch and make your brown eyes stand out, try a purple eye shadow. A rich, vibrant purple shadow makes your brown eyes look rich and warm; if you have a cool skin tone, opt for a lighter, violet sort of purple shade, whereas for you warm-skinned gals a darker, velvety purple is your best bet. Apply the shadow all over your lids. For a really dramatic look, add extra shadow underneath each eye, following along your natural lash line.
Blue
Blue is contrasting to brown, so if you really want your eyes to stand out, this is an ideal color choice. Whether you opt for a lighter, brighter blue for your cool skin tone -- light, soft shades look better on you -- or opt for a deep ocean-blue or navy shade -- top picks for warm-skinned ladies -- blue looks uber-lovely and chic on brown eyes. You can even try a combination of two or more blue shades; focus the darker blue over your lid area and the crease, with the lighter shades more toward the inner corner and brow bone to open up your almond-shaped eyes instead of making them look narrower.
