Whether you're sending in photos to a modeling agency or just goofing around with your new camera, you'll want to look your best in your photos. Of course, what you wear can really make or break your photos, so be sure to choose clothing that looks great on you and is stylish!

Whether you've got a little or a lot, what is appropriate for your photos is really dictated by what the photos are for. Photos for a sexy calendar for your honey will have completely different guidelines than those for a family portrait. If you're taking family photos, for instance, stick with clothing that is fun, but not overly sexy. Skirts and dresses mid-thigh length are fine for any nonwork-related or church photos. Tops that bare a bit of cleavage but do not have plunging necklines are fine for this as well. If you are taking sexier photos, though, wear something that you are comfortable in, as your insecurities will be captured by the cameras.

Colors and Patterns

Bright colors and patterns will definitely be the focal point of any photo you are in. So, if you are taking photos to display your looks, for example, go with solid, light or neutral tones to keep the attention on you. Or, if you are showing off your great taste in fashion, wearing something a little more loud is appropriate. However, never mix patterns that do not naturally go together -- think zebra and cheetah print -- since this can look plain ridiculous in a photo.

You may want to go for a type of look or style when dressing for your photo. Consider a preppier style replete with cardigans and khakis for your photo if you have a conservative streak. Or, if you want a dressier style, go with a satin dress and patent pumps. Hipster looks are great, as well, provided you still look neat and put-together for your photo.

Like colors and prints, accessories can distract or add to the main focal point in your photo. Unless you're modeling your outfit, keep your purse out of the photo. Keep your necklace or other jewelry to a minimum if you want to draw the attention to your face only. Belts can work to accentuate your figure and keep you looking neat, though you'll need to choose a color that complements your outfit best.
