You don't want to lose your expensive Louis Vuitton handbag just because of an accident with some sticky candy. But how do you clean a luxury handbag without damaging the insides? Very carefully. The interior of a Vuitton bag consists of either treated canvas or similar textile or, in some cases, calves' leather. So you won't be hosing it down. If all else fails, take it to a professional.
1.
Apply an ice cube to any large clumps of candy left in the interior of the bag until the candy hardens.
2.
Scrape off the hardened candy with a spoon or dull knife.
3.
Rub a baby wipe gently, in circles, around any spots of candy left on the bag's interior. Be persistent, but don't scrub hard.
4.
Dampen a washcloth, squeeze out excess water, and add a dab of laundry presoak to one corner of the cloth. Rub gently in circles around any spots left on the interior of the bag. Rinse out your washcloth and squeeze out any excess liquid. Rub the spots once more, then let them dry.
If cleaning it yourself does not get out the candy residue, or if the candy has left some food coloring to stain the bag's interior, you may wish to get your bag professionally cleaned. Be sure to mention the problem areas to your cleaner.
Do not get your Vuitton bag wet -- inside or out.
