If you're a caramel-skinned beauty, you can enhance the rich color of your skin without suffering the damaging effects of the sun. To deepen your skin tone, look for a self-tanner that will give your complexion a natural glow. Also remember that just like your tan, self-tanners don't last forever. Check expiration dates and if you can't find one, toss your self-tanner if you've had it for more than six months.
1.
Choose a self-tanner that blends with your skin tone to become a glowing goddess. Since you have rich, caramel skin, pick a tanner with yellow, rather than red, undertones for the best match. If the self-tanner has too much of a red or orange tone, your skin will appear ruddy.
2.
Choose a self-tanner lotion or cream that will also work double-duty as a skin moisturizer. Self-tanner adheres better and lasts longer on well-hydrated skin. Pick a self-tanner gel or spray if you need the product to dry in a hurry, as a lotion or cream will take longer to set.
3.
Pick a self-tanner with a SPF of at least 15 if you plan to spend time outdoors within two to three hours of application.
4.
Exfoliate your skin with a loofah or exfoliating scrub prior to applying the self-tanner for a smooth, even application. Apply the tanner to your skin in circular, sweeping motion to avoid streaks.
