1.
Pick up a deep to light brown eyebrow pencil or powder to define your brows. Since they frame and accentuate your eyes, defined brows help to draw attention to the best parts of your face. Don’t choose a black eyebrow pencil -- it’s a common mistake that can make your brows look too dark and unnatural.
2.
Select a creamy concealer from a tube or pot that you can use to cover up any dark circles or acne spots -- you don’t want to look tired in your photos. These concealer consistencies aren’t too thick, but they offer the coverage you need. To match it perfectly to your milk chocolate skin, choose a concealer in natural light with an orange/red base to camouflage dark areas.
3.
Match a foundation in the coverage level of your choice (light, medium or full) by applying a few options to your jawline and choosing the one that best matches your skin in natural light. Since you’re going to have bright flashbulbs on you, your foundation has to match.
4.
Find an eye shadow duo or quad that has varying deep brown eye shadows. Apply a light gold or taupe shadow over your eyelid and a deep brown shadow to your crease. To further highlight your defined brows, apply a light-colored shade underneath your eyebrows. Don’t forget the mascara -- it will make your eyes pop.
5.
Choose an illuminating powder or highlighter that you can apply to areas of your skin like the tops of your cheeks and the inside of your eyes. This draws the camera flash’s attention to your eyes and flawless skin. Another makeup you can use is bronzer. While you may not think of using it as an African-American woman, it can still add a flawless glow.
Accentuating your lips with a golden lip gloss can warm your milk chocolate skin and make your lips look full and fabulous.
Silvery shadow is a no-no for milk chocolate skin. The color looks weird in pictures and a little dated.
