When you have dark brown skin, you have to play by your own rules when you're putting on your makeup. This skin tone is distinct from other hues not only because of its color, but also because of the way it combines light and dark tones across the different surfaces of the face. It even retains oil differently than other faces. To get the perfect makeup, consider all of these different factors. When you do, your face will look as picture-perfect as possible.
1.
Pick out a light, mattifying foundation. This skin tone can be more oily, so a light matte foundation keeps you from looking too shiny or oily.
2.
Choose a concealer if you need to hide blemishes -- one with orange or golden undertones that work with your darker skin.
3.
Use your lightest foundation around the mouth, then mix light and dark foundations for your cheeks. Top it off by brushing on a warm-color face powder all over.
4.
Apply yellow powder over your eyelids and concealer to finish your base look.
5.
Play around with different looks, such as lip stains, colored eye shadow and rosy blush, after your base makeup is finished.
Want an au natural look? Then skip Step 5. After applying the base, the color tones on your face are all balanced out, making you look just like yourself -- only better.
