Sometimes the makeup that looks perfectly pretty in the mirror can look anything but, once the cameras come out. Looking picture-perfect in photos requires the right makeup colors, textures and types. If you have cappuccino skin -- a light brown complexion with warm yellow undertones -- the most effective products enhance your skin's natural richness and warmth, while counteracting any unevenness or shine. So get ready to rock your next photo op, because there's no reason a cappuccino-skinned cutie such as yourself should ever feel camera shy.

1.

Get your skin ready for its close-up with an opaque cream foundation. Liquid foundations go on too sheer for darker skin tones, but a cream formula has what it takes to hold up to your rich coloring. A yellow-based foundation with warm cinnamon undertones looks natural on cappuccino skin. Some dark-skinned mademoiselles are lighter on the cheeks, darker on the forehead and chin. If that sounds like you, no big deal – just pick two foundations, one a shade deeper than the other. Apply the deeper shade to the perimeter of your face and the lighter shade to the center. Blend well with a foundation brush, using crisscrossing strokes.

2.

Choose a light-reflecting cream concealer to cover under-eye circles. Photos tend to exaggerate any little bags or shadows beneath the eyes, so use a dab of concealer even if you don’t usually have any under-eye issues.

3.

Select a loose powder with deep yellow undertones to keep your skin looking flawlessly matte. Flash photography picks up every little drop of oil on your skin – meaning your makeup looks slick and shiny by the time the photos hit Facebook. Luckily, a light layer of powder puts the kibosh to sheen. For cappuccino skin, a powder with plenty of pigment is crucial. Sheer or less pigmented powders look ashy on your rich complexion.

4.

Keep your glow going with silky cream blush in shades of dark raisin, warm brick or deep terracotta. Cream blushes pack more pigment than powder formulas, so they show up better on cappuccino skin. Blend a little onto the apples of your cheeks and you’ll never looked washed-out in a photo again.

5.

Give your cheekbones a boost with an artful application of bronzer. The average digital camera can leave your features looking a little flattened, but a few sweeps of bronzer along the cheekbones visually sculpts your face in photos. A deep, tawny bronzer with amber or cinnamon undertones looks naturally radiant on cappuccino skin.

6.

Choose a sapphire blue eyeliner pencil for lining the inner rims of your lids, a pro trick for making peepers pop against dark skin. The sapphire shade brightens the whites of your eyes. Select a pencil with a waterproof finish so it doesn’t smear on your waterline, and a fine-tipped point for precise application.

7.

Opt for soft, velvety eye shadow in a chocolate brown, deep mahogany or dark coffee hue. These rich neutral shades softly define your eyes and add depth to your gaze.

8.

Prep your pucker for every photo op with a swipe of sheer lip gloss. The shine makes lips look lush and sexy in pictures. Spicy amber, warm maple and golden tangerine shades flatter your cappuccino skin beautifully.

Tips & Tricks

Sure, you want to look flawless in every photo – but you’d rather not have to lug an entire makeup kit around in your purse. No worries, just keep the touch-up essentials – oil blotting papers, pressed powder and lip gloss – on hand for a perfect picture, every time.
