Swipe on some subtly sexy style with a tube of dewy, dreamy nude lipstick. Nude lips go perfectly with just about any makeup look – from sultry smoky eyes to innocently rosy cheeks. The only trick to rocking this barely there beauty trend is choosing the right shade. Nothing derails a gorgeously nude makeup look like a lip that’s too chalky-pale or dreary-dark. If you have caramel skin – a medium complexion with golden-brown tones – a warm, creamy nude lipstick shade will play up your natural glow.

1.

Take a good look at the color of your kisser. Your perfect nude lipstick is about two shades darker than your naked pout. Anything lighter will leave you looking washed out, and anything darker defeats your purpose.

2.

Choose a nude shade with a rich taupe base and soft pink or mauve undertones. The taupe looks lush and creamy against your caramel complexion, while the pink adds just a hint of sexy rosiness.

3.

Check out nude lipsticks with shade names such as “raisin,” “mocha” or “toffee.” Chances are good that one of these will be your perfect match.

4.

Opt for a creamy, opaque lipstick formula when going nude. Your lips have plenty of natural pigment, so you can pull off a richer texture.

Tips & Tricks

Pick up a neutral lip pencil while you’re out shopping for nude lipstick. Filling in your lips with pencil creates a plumper-looking, longer-lasting nude pout. A pencil with golden undertones will flatter your caramel complexion best.

Forget frosted finishes. They’ll look chalky on your warm complexion.
