How to Choose Metallic Eye Color for Caramel Skin

Metallic eye color creates a bold, sultry look that's perfect for a night out. As with any makeup, though, the trick is choosing a color that suits your complexion. While there's plenty of overlap among different skin tones regarding who can wear which eye makeup, pick the one that best suits your caramel skin. Tailor your choices to your eyes for the metallic eye shade that will spotlight your lovely skin tone.

Look into your eyes -- deep into your eyes. The best clue for figuring out your eye shadow color is looking at your eye color. For example, if you have caramel skin, you probably have brown eyes. According to renowned makeup artist Bobbi Brown, the best fits for your shadow include mocha, khaki, stone and cement.

For a bold and bright look, choose two contrasting colors -- this also works if one is metallic and the other isn't. For example, blend in a non-metallic hue across your entire eyelid, then blend a metallic, contrasting color into it. An ideal combination for your skin tone is a neutral base, like cement or bark, blended with a metallic rust orange or silvery stone.

To do a cat eye look, apply a white base shadow over your entire eyelid so the colors pop. Over that, add a hue that suits your complexion, like a metallic slate. Cap off the look with a few coats of black mascara for definition.
