When you think cappuccino skin, picture model Iman, with her warm cinnamon undertones. Cappuccino skin has a rich, glowing brown hue to it that makes the perfect base for jewel-toned makeup. Jewel tones match the jewels -- real or faux -- you love to wear on your fingers, arms and neck, such as ruby, emerald or sapphire. Mixed with a touch of metallic, these tones can make your skin glow just as brightly as the jewels themselves.

1.

Search for a jewel-toned pop of color for your eyeshadow. Cappuccino skin looks flattering with a sapphire blue, emerald green or an amethyst color that’s swept over the outer crease of your eyelid. The key for cappuccino skin tones is to find the jewel color that’s close to a true purple or blue color.

2.

Choose a lighter-toned eyeshadow that complements your jewel-tone color and your skin tone. This can range anywhere from a taupe with a hint of gold to a full-on gold metallic if you are going out for the evening.

3.

Select a black eyeliner -- pencil is best -- for lining your eyes. The black eyeliner can make your eyes really pop if you apply it to your upper and/or lower lashes, then smudge it for effect.

4.

Shop for a plum shade for your lips, which is reminiscent of a deep ruby shade. For cappuccino skin, look for a plum that has a light red tinge to it, which is flattering for your skin tone. If you are going for full-out glamour, choose a matte jewel tone lipstick.

5.

Look for a blush that has brownish-red tones to accent your cheekbones. The ruby red undertone can tie together the jewel look for your lips. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks to highlight your cheekbones and provide a slightly warmed tint.

Tips & Tricks

Jewel tones look great against your skin -- but you don’t want to wear too many strong looks all at once. If you are going for a heavily defined eye, wear it with a neutral, light-colored lip.

While metallic golds can warm cappuccino skin, avoid jewel-toned shades with silver undertones. These colors tend to look harsh against cappuccino skin. Instead of making you glow, you’ll just look like a disco ball.
