Demanding divas want one thing today and another tomorrow, and that's part of the charm! If you're a go-with-the-flow girl, flaunt your chameleon charm with temporary hair color. Designed to wash out after a few shampoos, the color sits on your hair and doesn't actually get deposited in the hair follicle. You get all the glamour of a sexy 'do with none of the commitment of maintaining permanent color. Flirt with natural hues or punk-rock rainbow shades, choosing mousse, cream, rinse and even spray-on dye for a fierce mini makeover!
1.
Check the label on your temporary hair dye packaging to find out how long it's supposed to last. These dyes can last until your next shampoo or through four or five shampoos. Dyes that last longer than that are semi-permanent, not temporary.
2.
Place a shower cap on your head if you want to shower without diluting your dye. Wash your body and not your hair, and remove the shower cap once you've toweled yourself dry.
3.
Carry an umbrella or a rain hat if rain is forecast, since a brief shower can make your dye run . . . and this could ruin your outfit.
4.
Wash your hair when it begins to look oily or greasy, or if you want to remove the dye. Shampoo your hair with a gentle shampoo. Don't be surprised if some of the dye runs off, or if the runoff water is tinted. Follow up with a moisturizing conditioner.
5.
Towel dry yourself after the shower and blow dry your hair as normal. The hair color will appear faded or may have washed out entirely. If the color is still there but faded, care for the temporary hair color in this way until it's all washed out and you've returned to your natural color.
