Suede boots look super hot and are definitely in style, as long as you can keep them from looking raggedy. Whether you got your suede boots as an investment or got a steal of a deal, you need to protect them from damage. You have a tough job ahead, since suede is a delicate fabric that does not hold up well to water, while boot-wearing season is filled with fall storms and winter snow. Your boots were made for walking, so use a silicone spray to protect those boots and keep them looking pristine all season long.

1.

Purchase a silicone spray specifically designed for suede. You can find suede-protecting products at many stores, including shoe stores. The small cost of a suede silicone spray is well worth it, since the spray will protect your hot boots for a whole season of wear.

2.

Spray the silicone spray on your suede boots in a thin, even layer. Work indoors in a warm and dry environment. It is best to apply the protective layer before wearing your boots for the first time for ultimate protection from the elements.

3.

Your boots need to be fully dry before you wear them out, so plan ahead. If you have a date or occasion where you need to wear your suede boots, allow for at least 24 hours for the boots to dry. Let the silicone spray dry naturally by keeping your boots indoors in a warm, dry area. Do not place them where they will be exposed to direct heat, such as in front of an air vent. Excessive heat can cause damage and cracks to the suede.

4.

Keep your protected suede boots clean during the season by wiping them with a clean towel whenever you get home. Avoid wearing them when you know conditions will be wet or icy or if there is a layer of salt on the ground. Do not use water on the suede; even though it is protected with silicone, water can still breach the layer and damage the suede.

5.

At the end of the season, clean the boots gently with a towel and apply another layer of silicone spray. Allow them to dry before carefully storing them. Properly caring for your suede boots will keep them looking perfect season after season, which keeps you looking ready to walk the catwalk every year.
