Your new sterling silver ring makes the perfect accessory to wear with your favorite LBD. But what good is the ring if it's still sitting in the box it came in because you're afraid to wear it for fear of not taking caring of it properly? Sure, sterling silver needs proper care to stay beautiful, but it's not rocket science. Show off your bling, but when you get home give it a little TLC to keep it shining.

1.

Take off your sterling silver rings when you're showering, cleaning or swimming to prevent them from tarnishing. As much as you may love your precious silver rings, let them rest while you rest by not wearing them to bed. Put your rings on after you've applied makeup, styled your hair and used any other beauty products that may damage the rings. And whatever you do, don't ever use bleach while wearing your silver rings, or they may become damaged beyond repair.

2.

Wipe off your rings with a soft, cotton cloth or silver polishing cloth before putting them away. This will get any loose dirt and the oils from your body off the jewelry.

3.

Store your rings in a cool, dry spot when you're not wearing them. Put an anti-tarnish cloth inside of a jewelry box and lay your rings inside or wrap them in jeweler's tissue and place them in a jewelry box or bag. Separate the rings from other jewelry so they don't get scratched.

4.

Keep sterling silver rings away from areas with lots of humidity. In other words, don't lay the rings on the bathroom counter while you take a steaming hot shower.

5.

Bring out the shine in your silver rings by cleaning them when they get dirty. Dip the toothbrush into mild, soapy water and use it to gently scrub the rings. Rinse them under cool water, then dry with a soft, cotton cloth. Don't dry the rings with paper towels or bath tissue or they might get scratched.
