When you think about it, hair is often put through the ringer. Between styling products, hair accessories and chemical treatments, tresses are often used and abused. Gals who treat their locks to perms commonly experience hair breakage. Your hair becomes so weak and distressed as a result of the chemicals in the perms, it snaps off because of it. But don't forget about the strong hair that is still hanging around; taking care of it is important to ensure you'll have a ton of fabulous hair days.

1.

Moisturize those locks like nobody's business. One of the likely reasons your hair snapped off is because it is dry. Prevent that from happening to the rest of your mane by giving it some much needed hydration. Do so by cleansing it with a hydrating shampoo each time you wash your hair. This type of shampoo gets your hair clean but won't strip it of its natural oils and dry it out even more.

2.

Apply a seriously moisturizing conditioner to your hair after you rinse out the shampoo. Conditioner that is super hydrating helps to seal split ends, which can prevent further breakage. Additionally, it gets those strands nice and strong, which results in sexy, healthy hair. To really get that moisture in those locks, sit under a low- to -medium-set dryer for about 10 minutes while the conditioner is in. Heating up the conditioner helps it penetrate the strands and get it super hydrated.

3.

Visit your stylist every four to six weeks for a trim. Getting a little snipped here and there nixes split ends, which prevents breakage. You don't have to get much trimmed off; only the ends that are damaged and in need of serious help.

Tips & Tricks

In a perfect world you wouldn't have to use damaging styling products, but when you do, you need to protect your tresses first. Do so by applying a protective styling cream to your mane before you use a flat iron on it or curl it. You'll look even better and your hair will thank you.
