Embrace your hips, don't hide them! Choosing the best suited clothing for your figure will make you feel comfortable and sexy. With the right fit and some tricks, your hips will take center stage. So grab a form-fitting dress and celebrate your hips with a night on the town!
Jeans Work Best
Jeans are the most flattering pants a woman can wear. When you have big hips, choose a fitted jean with flare on the bottom. Bootleg cuts are excellent with highlighting big hips. The wider cut will balance out your hips, making them appear smaller. The more snug the better. Stay away from low-rise, go for a mid-rise cut to avoid the dreadful "muffin top." Many veterans like the Gap, Lee and Levi's design "Curvy" jeans, which are specifically made for the curvy girl.
Body Hugging Dresses and Skirts
Pencil skirts and dresses will emphasize your hips beautifully. Stylist Dawn Del Russo says "Pencil skirts complement larger hips by form-fitting to the body and drawing attention to the waistline." Rocking a pencil skirt? Pair it with a tucked in button down shirt to balance out your hips. Partying in a form-fitting dress? Go with a low cut neckline for a nice balance. Turn up the heat with a wide belt to cinch your waist for some added sexiness.
For big hips, fitted tops look terrific with flared and A-line skirts. They will make your waist appear smaller while the flare of the skirt will minimize your hips. Avoid wearing tight tops with body hugging skirts and pants, this may make your hips appear larger than normal. Here's a tip -- if you want to wear a fitted top with tight pants, stick with the same color.
When you have big hips you want to make sure that the pants you choose make your booty pop, not POP! Stylist Colin McDonald says "Fit is key! A pant with a flat-front and a bit of flair or wideness does just the trick." Certain pleats tend to make your hips look wider. He also suggests to stay with dark colors like black and navy. Avoid pockets and loud prints, they usually bring out your hips more. One trick is to sew the pockets shut on your pants. This is a fantastic tip that stylists live by.
