Belts are the go-to accessories when it comes to instantly changing an outfit by simply accentuating your hips or waist, creating a thinner, feminine look, especially if the belt is thick or wide. Thick belts matched with nice high-waisted jeans can create the desirable hour glass shape. Thick belts can be worn two ways: below your bust and on your natural waistline.
Where to Wear it: Below Your Bust
When wearing belts, you have to be careful not to create a bulky or unflattering perception of your shape. Wearing a thick belt instantly draws attention because of its size and design; color can be a factor as well. If you want to wear your belt just below your bust, make sure to wear a top that falls below the waist. This style will enhance your bust because it draws attention to your upper part.
Where to Wear it: On Your Natural Waistline
If you are aiming to slim down your mid-section, wearing the thick belt on you natural waistline would be best. It also will showcase the entire design of your high-waisted jeans. This is a very flattering look that will make you appear longer and leaner.
Adding "Accessory" to the Accessory
Leopard print, zebra print, studs and chains on your thick belt can also add flare to your high-waisted jean silhouette.
Shoe Matters
Sometimes wearing jeans tucked in your boots look nice -- but not for thick belt and high-waisted jeans that flare. It's best to wear the high-waisted jeans untucked with heeled boots or simply high heels. Skinny high-waisted jeans look good with both heeled boots and high heels as well as flats. Overall, high heels give the most flattering look with either type of high-waisted jeans.
