Not only can you wear a necklace with a turtleneck, you should. Accessories are the way to let your sense of personal style shine. It's the difference between a ho-hum, generic look and something that's all your own. So hit up your jewelry box after you've put on your turtleneck.

Make a Statement

A dark turtleneck makes the perfect backdrop for your most eye-catching statement necklaces. Whether it's a bib with beads and sequins or a thick rope with colored jewels, it's going to work and look fierce. Keep your hair down and over your shoulders to balance out the drama of your statement. Wear a pencil skirt for day or a mini-skirt and heels for night.

Short and Sweet

If what you prefer is something subtle, then you'll want to go for a delicate chain with a simple pendant design. A 16-inch or 18-inch chain is perfect to wear on top of your turtleneck. Monogram necklaces are a classic trend that's going to be around forever. Don't hesitate to wear your letters proudly around your neck.

Go Long

Long chains are a cool, bohemian look that will draw the eye up and then down, making you look longer and leaner in the process. Few women can argue with that style trick. Go with one rope chain or layer several to achieve this chic effect. Pair your turtleneck and necklaces with a maxi-skirt and heeled boots to go all the way.

Other Considerations

There are a couple of things to think about when you're picking out your necklaces. If you have a large chest, a short necklace is going to be a better bet. Long necklaces will sit on top of your girls, drawing more attention to them and making them look like a shelf. If you have a bra that separates your breasts, so the necklace can hang in between, wear it. If you're petite or small chested, long chains are great. Gold-toned jewelry is more flattering for warm skin tones and silver-toned jewelry looks better on cool-skinned ladies.
