You finally made it to New York City for the weekend, and you can't wait to explore the busy streets. Going to that Broadway play that just opened is definitely on your list of things to do. You want to look glamorous at the theater, but your feet are beginning to hurt after all the waking you did today. Wearing jeans is completely acceptable for a Broadway play, especially when dressed up with the right accessories.

Top Glamour

Because your bottom half will be more casual, make sure to dress up the rest of your look by wearing a nice top. "Cosmopolitan" suggests pairing a shorter, loose-fitting top with a straight-leg jean for a longer, lean appearance. During cool weather, try pairing a silk blouse with a tailored black or grey blazer and save softer pastels for springtime. If your trip falls during the freezing New York winter, plan to pair your denim duds with a neutral colored cable knit sweater. When it comes to picking the perfect pair of jeans to pair with your fancier top, stick to dark denim because they look more elegant than lighter shades.

Heels

We all know New York requires a lot of walking, so if your feet are already tired and heels are out of the question, instead opt for a satin or leather pair of ballet flats. A neutral black is a safe color for the theater all year round, especially if your play is at night as opposed to a more casual matinee showing. Flat leather riding boots worn over a pair of dark denim jeans is another comfortable and chic look you can easily achieve. If heels are your middle name, then go for a nice but not over-the-top pair of classic pumps.

Jewelry

Jewelry is the perfect way for you to showcase your awesome personality and fashion-forward style. Necklaces, earrings and rings add glam to any outfit and will make you feel like a star at the Broadway play. Don't feel like you have to go all out with diamonds and pearls. There are so many little vintage markets around the city, so why not wear that affordable vintage-inspired long necklace you just bought? New York is all about trendsetting style, so have fun being a trendsetter yourself.

Accessories

If a simple necklace or bold ring is not enough flair for you, add one or two more accessories to your outfit. Wearing too many statement pieces at once will distract from your overall look, so it's best to pick and choose which ones fit your personality and style best. Leather belts accentuate your female curves and look great with longer tops and sweaters. Add a wool or sequin beret for an artsy look but make sure not to pick a hat that blocks the view of the person behind you.
