You've got three seemingly unrelated items of clothing staring back at you from your closet -- a gray sweater, tights and brown boots. Just because these pieces may not appear to be the most complementary of one another, you can definitely pull off a super cool outfit by combining the three. With just a few accessories, you'll look chic, stylish and creative!
Not all tights are created equal, so you'll want to choose a pair that will work best with the outfit. Avoid thin or see-through tights. Go with a thicker pair or even leggings. Black tights are standard and will work with this outfit, but so will gray tights. Since you're mixing colors, you may want to avoid patterned tights and go with some that have a simple design or adornments like zippers or pockets.
Rocking Your Sweater
The cardinal rule to remember when wearing tights is that tights or leggings are not pants. As such, don't even think about wearing a sweater that doesn't cover your derriere to avoid committing a serious fashion faux-pas. Also, you can turn a boring sweater in chic item by wearing it off one or both of your shoulders. If your sweater is a little long in the sleeves, then cuff them so that you don't look like you're swimming in the sweater.
Nothing will bring your look together like a few well-placed accessories. In fact, a waist belt that matches the color of your boots will be just what you need to look put-together and help you match your sweater with your boots. Likewise, a brown fedora hat can be the chic addition you need to really look fashionable and stylish in this outfit.
How dressy or casual your outfit looks may also depend on how high your boots are. If you're wearing flat boots, then keep the rest of your outfit casual. Wear your hair down and keep your makeup minimal to go with the casual flow of your outfit. Alternately, you can easily dress this outfit up with a pair of high-heeled boots and by pulling your hair into a dressier bun and spicing up your makeup with liner and shadow.
