Ankle boots are incredibly trendy and can make any outfit instantly more edgy. But, because they rise a little higher than most shoes, it can be tough to figure out what pants to wear them with. If you want to give your skinny jeans a break, try rolling your denim up to show off all of your fab shoe.

Why It Works

Nowadays, the trend is to wear your boots or booties with pants that are slim enough to tuck into your shoes to let your entire shoe be on display instead of just the bottom of it. But, since leggings and skinny jeans are so popular they can get a little boring. That's why rolling up your jeans can be so much fun. It's a little break from the norm that'll make you stand out in a very fashionable way.

How to Wear It

To make the look work, you'll need to pick a jean that will roll and stay in place. Stay away from wide-leg denim. Not only will it look strange, but it won't stay rolled up. So stick with straight leg denim. Straight leg doesn't mean skinny. You can find jeans that are still a little roomier without having that flare-legged detail.

Boyfriend Jeans

Boyfriend jeans are perfect for rolling up. They fit nice and loose and look even cuter when they're rolled up, making them a perfect pairing for your ankle boots. Get even more edgy by picking out a boyfriend jean that has distressed and fraying detail. Then slip on an ankle boot with a heel to dress your casual jeans up a bit. You can also find boyfriend jeans that are already rolled up so you don't even have to do any of the leg work. Just slip them on and you're all set.

How to Style It

Your rolled up jeans look just as great with flat booties as the do with heeled ankle boots. Just make sure that your jeans roll up enough to let at least most of your bootie show. Up top, keep it casual with a basic tee or sweater. Or, go a little more glam and try a blazer, or make your look super feminine by adding a floral or frilly blouse.
