If your feet aren't the smoothest, don't fret. There are plenty of ways to slough away dead dry skin on your tootsies. What's best, most of them can be done in the comfort of your own home. So learn a few simple ways to take your feet from dry and unsightly to smooth and gorgeous.
Find Salicylic Acid
Yes, in case you're wondering, we are talking about those pads you use to take care of acne. Let your acne pads work double duty and use them on your feet. Acne pads contain something called salicylic acid, which actually works as an exfoliant. Use them regularly to gently remove dead skin cells from your feet. Tons of products that contain salicylic acid are available, so get thee to a drugstore and stock up.
Try Callus Removers
You've probably seen callus removers on an infomercial or two. Generally, most infomercial products deserve to stay right there in your T.V. set, but these actually work surprisingly well. Most of these products have a metal bottom that looks almost like a cheese-grater. Rub it along your rough areas and then follow up a soft foot filer to smooth everything out. These high-tech callus removers are available at most drugstores.
Wear a Mask on Your Feet
Usually we wear rejuvinating masks on our faces, but they can work just as well on the feet. Keeping your feet moisturized is one of the best ways to banish dry flaky skin for good. Check at your local beauty supply store and pick one up. If you don't want to spend the bucks on a foot mask, get yourself a jar of shea butter. It's super-moisturizing and only costs a few dollars.
DIY Spa Pedicure
Go through some of the same steps to get your feet smooth as they do in the salon. Fill up a tub or bowl with warm soapy water. Let them soak for a few minutes. Then use a coarse brush to scrub away dry patches. Follow up with a pumice stone. Rub it along the flaky areas just as you did with your brush. Both products can be found at any beauty supply store.
