Your mom probably told you two things about washing your face: always take your makeup off before you go to bed and always cleanse your skin before you put your makeup on. While you might not think you collect too much dirt while you sleep, you can have extra oils and dead skin cells that need cleansing before you take your makeup off. If you use a Clinique face wash, you can put your makeup on following your cleansing routine.
Cleanse and Apply
Clinique has as many different cleanser types as you have shoes. From gel to cream to foams to soaps, Clinique has a lot of different options for you to choose from for your cleansing routine. If you put your makeup on first thing in the morning, you can wash with a Clinique face wash, and then apply your makeup on a clean canvas. Some Clinique face washes, such as Clinique’s Redness Solutions Soothing Cleanser, have ingredients like sea-whip extract and oat extract to soothe red skin, which means you may need less foundation.
Reapplication
If you’ve been at work or school all day and want to put on a new makeup face at night, Clinique has facial cleansers that are designed to take off makeup. These include Take the Day Off Cleansing milk or balm. If you prefer your skin to feel squeaky clean before you apply makeup, Clinique’s Wash-Away Gel Cleanser is able to remove makeup, dirt and oil that you may have picked up throughout the day without stripping your skin of healthy oils, according to “Allure” magazine. You can use one of these cleansers to remove the day’s makeup, and then you’ll be ready to put the night’s makeup on.
Three-Step Process
There may be one exception to the makeup-after-face-wash rule: if you follow Clinique’s three-step cleansing, toning and moisturizing process, you may be missing out on a few steps. This involves using the Clinique facial soap to get your skin clean, using a clarifying toner to remove any extra impurities left on your face and applying a moisturizer to provide a more-even surface for you to apply makeup. If you have dry skin, going from washing your face to applying your makeup after washing with Clinique may not be your best plan because you may find makeup doesn’t blend well into your dry skin.
What’s Right For You
Putting on your makeup after cleansing depends on the type of Clinique face wash you are using and your skin type. Signs that you may need to add a moisturizing step before you apply your makeup include whether your skin feels tight and dry after moisturizing or whether your foundation is not as easy to blend as it was previously.
