How to Camouflage Narrow Hips & Thin Thighs

Having narrow hips and thin thighs opens up a wealth of fashion opportunities. Outfits your curvier counterparts could never pull off, you can wear with ease. Yet, you may long for a figure that has a little more va-va-voom. If you pair your outfits carefully, you can create the illusion of curves. Billowy tops, knee-skimming dresses and layering all help you make the most of your thin frame.


Look for pants with the right type of waist to make you look more curvy. Try a high-waisted pair of pants, a low-rise pair and everything in between. Avoid pants that are too fitted; they will emphasize your straight figure. Instead, go for a looser look.


Wear dresses that highlight the waist. Look for belted styles. Or add your own belt. Try a wrap dress. Do a flared skirt with a ruffled blouse to emphasize your waist and make the most of what you have up top.


Wear looser frocks such as tunic shirts or trapeze dresses to hide your narrow hips and thin thighs. If you wear a trapeze dress, make sure it hits right above your knee. Add a pair of heels for instant lower leg appeal.


Pair dark, low-waisted jeans with a hip-skimming billowy tank and a cropped, tailored jacket. The jacket shows off your waist, while the top disguises your narrow hips.
