One of the quirky unwritten rules of the universe is that most women who have small breasts want bigger, flashier ones and women who've already got hefty twins want to lessen their visual impact. This can be a tall order when the junk you're trying to hide isn't in your trunk but sitting front and center on your windshield. You don't have to go under the knife to divert attention away from your ample decolletage. With the right cut and style of clothing, you can ease away from the inverted triangle look and closer to a proportional hourglass figure. When it comes to choosing a big-bust-camouflaging dress, it's all about defining your waist and pulling an onlooker's eyes to other parts of your body.
Wrap Dresses
If you're looking to make your bust look like it's magically lost a few cup sizes, go for a well-fitted wrap dress. The crossover portion of the dress falls right between your dual peaks, dividing and separating them optically and preventing them from looking like amorphous water-filled balloons hiding under your dress. Wrap dresses also manage to sharply but kindly define your waist, making you look slimmer overall. For more effective boob camouflage, seek out a dress that pairs the wrap dress style with three-quarter-length sleeves. The more skin tastefully displayed from the waist up, the less viewers' eyes will roam elsewhere.
Deep, Wide Necklines
A high neckline won't hide your ample bosom -- all that extra material will make it look more massive and turn your breasts into an even greater eye-magnet for everyone in the room. For some truly effective camouflage work, pick a dress that boasts a V-neck, a wide scoop neck or a deep sweetheart neckline. The lack of material up top makes a visual demarcation line between your breasts and the rest of your upper chest, preventing you from appearing as if your breasts start at your chin and go down from there.
Support up Top
It's easy to get sucked in by the lure of flirty spaghetti-strap cocktail dresses that look so great on the plastic models standing in the department store window. The trouble is, those models have A cups at most and have never had to struggle to control their breasts while small-talking the boss at the Christmas party. Not only will a dress with firm, built-in support and wide straps that'll shield a bra keep it all locked into place, your breasts will look smaller and more shapely, and you'll appear thinner all over, especially if the dress has a defined waistline. This is because out-of-control large busts tend into blur into the waist if they aren't supported and winched separate from your waist.
Necklaces Above the Neckline
The necklace that you choose to wear with your dress can have a huge impact on the appearance of your bosom. If you wear a number with a pendant that hits right at your dress' neckline, it's going to draw more, not less, attention to your bust. Same thing if the pendant is spelunking down the cavern of your cleavage. Your best bet is a necklace that provides a diverting bit of eye-candy on the bare expanse of your upper chest. Stick with ones that end about a half-inch above the neckline of your dress. People will be mesmerized by that -- and not so much by your other gems.
