Deep, crimson lipstick is a style that has resurfaced from the depths of the 1990s. Dark-red lipstick is edgy and it can be show-stopping. It's also expensive! Great, long-lasting lipsticks are hard to find if you're on a budget, considering that some of the best brands charge more than $30 for a single tube. We all want a lipstick that will last, especially if it's a bold color that's integral to our look. Bad lipstick is embarrassing, but girls on a budget can get gorgeous dark lips without breaking the bank.

E.L.F. Mineral Lipstick in "Praline"

E.L.F has been a long-guarded secret among beauty editors. You've probably passed these products in your drugstore and ignored them; but if you're on a budget, these are the best bang for your buck. Lucky magazine beauty editor Jessica Matlin recommends this brand because of how easily it glides on lips and because of its lasting power. "I was impressed the moment I applied it, but two hours later, I was sold," she writes.

Maybelline Red Lipstick

Maybelline lipstick can be found in just about every drugstore, and for a bargain brand, it's got bold color down to a science. While Maybelline has a variety of red lipsticks (they have a ton of different lines), online fashion editor Olivia Villanti recommends Maybelline Red Lipstick. This color is a creamy, deep red. It's just dark enough to play on the trend without looking like you're an extra in "Twilight" (on Team Edward, of course).

MAC Matte Lipstick in Russian Red

MAC lipstick is a little bit of a splurge compared to drugstore brands, but -- considering its quality -- it will seem like a steal (at publication time it retailed for about $15). Marie Claire UK voted MAC's Russian Red one of the Top 10 red lipsticks. This color is a dark red, but it's still vibrant. The matte texture tones down the deep pigment, making it extremely wearable; and you can bet it will last a really long time.

Wet n Wild Silk Finish

Wet n Wild is one of the least expensive lipsticks on the market. You would figure for a tube of lipstick that costs 99 cents, the colors would be dull. That is not the case. This brand is known for its rich pigment and its insanely large selection (there are plenty of dark reds to choose from!). Makeup artist Kristofer Buckle, who spoke to Good Housekeeping, admitted to Good Housekeeping magazine that she uses Wet n Wild Silk Finish lipstick a lot and recommends it to test hard-to-pull off trends like dark red.
