The right bra keeps the girls from jiggling, bouncing and just plain aching. You might think that a bra is nothing more than a pretty scrap of lace, but it's so much more than window dressing. In fact, the right bra can enhance posture and prevent back pain. Every woman has a different "best bra." However, the perfect choice combines good fit and comfort in equal measure. Leave your modesty at the door and get ready to discuss those pretty unmentionables.
Bra Fit
Any discussion about the best bra must start with fit. A choice bra doesn't squeeze the breasts or the ribcage, and the straps sit comfortably on the shoulders. The key to finding this perfect bra, of course, is to get a fitting from a qualified bra fitter or lingerie consultant. Even though a bra might feel great in the changing room, keep in mind that it's really hard to gauge proper fit without some help. Let an experienced eye (and tape measure) come to the rescue. You might be Wonder Woman, but it takes an extra set of hands and eyes to find the best bra fit.
Fabric
When choosing the best bra out of many, think of its use. A lacy demi-cup works just great for a romantic date night, but it might not offer the best support for a day at work. Under a T-shirt, try a smooth microfiber or cotton bra specifically for use under thin or clingy fabrics. Fancy options work best under garments that won't show the bra's texture. Big-chested ladies might find that thicker fabrics lend more support.
Underwire or Not?
The best bra choice supports and frames the bust. In the past, this meant wearing an underwire bra, especially for those with fuller tatas. Nowadays, some bra designers offer wireless options that lend support without the lovely, and sometimes uncomfortable, metal boning. While these bras can mean increased comfort for some, others may find that these bras simply don't give the same amount of lift. However, you won't know 'til you test one out, so purchase a wireless model and see what's new.
Cup Type
As a final point, remember that your best bra will have a cup type that suits the moment. If you're worried about breastfeeding a baby, then buy a nursing bra. For those with small busts, a simple soft-cup triangle bra can be enough for daily use. While a full-cup model gives the most support of all, it can also be decidedly less sexy than a plunging design that shows a bit of nip. Control is the word of the day when it comes to cup type. Whether you dare to bare it all or not, an increased amount of cup adds support and distributes weight better. Keep this in mind when choosing the best bra for your purposes.
