Like most women, a little black dress is probably your go-to piece when you're getting ready for a night out or when you're prepping for a dressy-ish occasion with absolutely no idea what to wear. Throwing on a pair of heels is simple, but when you venture into boots-territory, your mind may reject this noble idea. An LBD and boots? Yes! Take a stroll through inspiring boot ideas -- a new way to accessorize your dress makes it that much more versatile.

Ankle Boots

When you're looking for that extra kick to your outfit and pumps just won't cut it, opt for a pair of ankle boots. You know, the kind that hit just under your ankle and are occasionally referred to as shooties -- a shoe-plus-bootie hybrid. Let's say you're rocking a cap-sleeve little black dress with a deep-V neckline and a mini-skirt hemline. Pull on a pair of sheer black tights and step into super-saturated black, stiletto-heel ankle boots. So chic.

Moto-Style Boots

Just because your LBD says super-feminine-look doesn't mean you have to push the girlie factor -- you may want to reach for the opposite end of the spectrum to achieve a rough-and-tumble vibe. Envision a strapless, body-hugging LBD with a ruffled hem. Slide on a pair of nude fishnet tights and step into moto-style boots. Think black or dark gray leather, mid-calf boots with buckle detailing and a chunky heel. Swipe on some hot pink lip gloss for a punk-meets-feminine touch.

Wearing a little black dress does not mean you have to bare a lot of skin -- you can still pull off sexy with minimal coverage. Really. Start with a three-quarter-sleeve dress with a scooped neckline and flounced skirt that falls a bit above your knees. Pull on black opaque tights and you're almost done. Pop your feet into leather high-heel booties -- the kind with a shaft a couple inches above your ankles -- in a vibrant hue such as purple or cobalt blue.

Over-the-Knee Boots

If you're the type of girl who loves a fashion-forward look, a pair of knee-high boots is not smoldering enough for the likes of you. Imagine you're decked out in a satin flapper-style LBD with a hemline a few inches above your knees. Your most stunning bet -- a pair of high-heel over-the-knee boots. Opt for black matte leather, patent leather or suede -- whichever suits your fancy. That extra stretch of leather knocks your ensemble up to va-va-voom status.
