Bobbi Brown is one of the most well-known names in makeup. A respected professional makeup artist, Brown works with glamorous celebrities, but with her eponymous cosmetics brand, strives to help every woman emphasize her natural beauty and feel more confident. From eye shadows and liners to blushes and bronzers, You can get a world-conquering look yourself by following a few of her makeup techniques.
Face
Opt for a foundation that works with your natural skin tone, rather than tries to hide it for a classic Bobbi Brown look. Skim a lightweight foundation over your face and neck for a first step, though she recommends a tinted moisturizer that evens out redness if you're not a foundation kind of gal. Bobbi is a big fan of bronzer, for shaping the face and creating an instant sunkissed glow. Bobbi recommends using a self-tanner over your skin, applying a thin layer to start, adding another thin layer if needed. Always work in layers and wait to see what the color looks like, rather than putting on too much all at once and looking orange or blotchy. Porcelain-skinned girls should stick strictly to blush to summerize their look though, "even the lightest bronzer or self-tanner will look unnatural on you," Brown says.
Cheeks
To glam up your cheeks, Bobbi suggests using a light pink or red-toned blush, sweeping it over the apples only. This creates the most natural look, making you look like you have a healthy, glowing flush to your skin. Use a big, fluffy blush brush to apply the blush and always apply the product lightly, going over it with another layer if you need to.
Eyes
Two of Bobbi's admitted favorite makeup looks are a strong brow and a smoky eye. Use a brow pencil -- in the exact shade of your brow or one shade lighter -- to make small, hairlike lines from the start to the end of your brows. To achieve a smoky eye, line your eyes with a black liner, go over top with a dark powder, and of course don't forget the mascara. To apply mascara the Bobbi Brown way, start by curling your lashes, then blot the makeup wand on a piece of tissue before applying it to your lashes.
Lips
Bobbi tends to prefer a more natural look on the lips, so try a cream-based lipstick in a light pink or nude shade. Go over top of your lips with a bit of gloss afterward to plump up your pout and get a kissable pucker. For a more dramatic look, opt for a deep red lipstick -- this universal color is wearable and looks good on all skin tones.
