Although relaxed hair is silky and straight after leaving the salon, it takes work to maintain the look after the first time it's shampooed. Although blow drying your hair can seem like a challenge, a blown-out style maintains your relaxed hair's shape and cuts down on your hair's stress caused by daily hair maintenance. As with any type of chemical treatment, the right tools are an absolute must to prevent tangles, split ends and breakage caused by heat damage and coarse brushes.

Lightly spray heat protectant spray on your roots and the shaft of your hair.

Apply more spray to your ends because they often get the most abuse from brushes and heat stylers.

Hold the round brush in one hand and set the blow dryer to a warm or low heat setting.

Place the blow dryer at least 10 inches away from your hair and brush the hair while moving the blow dryer with the round brush from your roots to your ends.

Blow dry all of your hair until it is moist but not bone dry. Extremely dry hair is prone to damage because your hair's natural oils are removed when exposed to high levels of heat.

Lightly mist your hair with a moisturizing hair oil to lock in moisture and bring out your hair's brilliance.

Tips & Tricks

Keep the dryer moving while blowing out your hair. Concentrated levels of heat can burn the hair, which can ruin your style and lead to split ends.
