Knowing that black skirts are fantastic basic pieces is easy. Styling them, now that's the tough part. You definitely don't want to pair your black skirt with the wrong blouse and take a cute look down a fashion notch. So find a few fantastic blouses that'll make your skirt look even better.
Try a textured blouse with your black skirt. Since black skirts generally are more of a basic piece, it's a fantastic way to make your look more interesting. Go for lace tops, or try velvet during the fall and winter months. Any textured blouse is sure to make your skirt look cooler.
Keep It Neutral
Pair your black skirt with a neutral-colored blouse to keep your palette more subtle. Tans and nudes look incredibly chic with black. Also try shades of gray and soft pinks and peaches. Slip on a pair of shoes in a similar shade to bring your look together or opt for black shoes.
Keep It Classic
You can never go wrong with a crisp white button-up blouse paired with your black skirt. Wear it with an A-line skirt to make the look office-appropriate, or make it sexy by sporting it with a black mini. If you're going with a more voluminous skirt, tuck your blouse in to create more shape and finish it off with a belt to really cinch in the waist. Blouses can be tucked into your fitted skirt, too, or worn loose to make your tight skirt a little more conservative.
Add Some Color
Liven up your black skirt by pairing it with a brightly colored blouse. Super-colorful shades are a fun way to create an interesting juxtaposition. If you don't want to go too bright, opt for jewel-toned blouses instead. Colorful prints work well here, too, so pull out your floral blouse to make your outfit extra girlie, or pair your skirt with a more avant-garde artistic print.
