Black walnut hulls have a reputation for offering numerous health benefits. In particular, the hulls are believed to be quite beneficial in treating numerous skin ailments.
History
Although not really a household name, black walnut has been a popular home remedy for centuries. The ancient Greeks and Romans named the walnut the imperial nut and used the hull of the black walnut to treat all types of ailments. Russian folk medicine has also incorporated the black walnut into its remedies since the 17th century. Traditional Chinese medicine says that eating black walnuts builds physical strength. And lastly, here in the States, Texas folk medicine considers black walnut extract as an effective treatment for scorpion bites.
Walnut Hull Powder
It's not just the black walnut that is beneficial. Its hull powder is said to be amazing for the skin. It is known to tone and help heal inflamed tissues. The astringent that comes from the actual plant the walnut grows on helps with acne inflammation. It is also effective in treating people who suffer from eczema and psoriasis.
Walnut Hull Mask
Putting on a facial mask can feel absolutely incredible. Your skin is left feeling smooth and luscious. Black walnut hull powder can be extracted from the hull and used as a facial mask. It can be applied just as a mask or even as a face wash.
Walnut Tea
The black walnut can also be used as a tea by boiling the walnut leaves in water. The tea can be added to your bath and used as a cleanser for the entire body. It's also been used in bandages to cure skin infections. However, walnut hulls shouldn't be ingested as a tea because they can have an intense laxative effect.
