Poetically pretty, fashionably fierce and a little dangerous all the time, black eye shadow is like the holy grail of glam. But you can't just slap on some black shadow and call it a day. You've got to work with your natural eye shape. If you've been blessed with beautiful almond shaped eyes, please pick up some black shadow, pronto. Dark shadow will add depth, dimension and drama to your almond eyes.

Black Smoky Eyes

Almond eyes look naturally exotic and mysterious -- play that up with a smoldering smoky eye. Just be sure to take your eye shape into account. That whole smudgy smoky thing isn't really the way to go for almond eyes. Instead, precisely line your entire eye, top and bottom, with a black eyeliner pencil. Extend the line out a little past the inner and outer corners of the lids to supersize your eyes. Use a shadow brush to sweep black shadow over your lids, from lashes to creases, in a half-moon shape. Then blend the color out to score sultry depth and dimension. When you think you've blended enough -- blend a little more.

Black Cat Eyes

Almond eyes look absolutely irresistible in winged black shadow. Just resist the urge to go too far out with flick. On your eye shape, a bold, thick wing can start to look cutesy instead of glam. Load an angled brush in black shadow and glide it along your lash line, starting at the inner corner. Make the line about 1/8 of an inch thick -- that's the perfect width for your eye shape. When you reach the outer edge of the lid, draw the line up and out a little, creating a subtle tapered point. Voila, a perfectly pretty cat eye.

False Lashes

There's nothing like false lashes to feel instantly fierce. Smoky eyes and cat eyes alike benefit from a false flutter. The only problem is, a full faux fringe tends to make almond shaped eyes look smaller and close-set. So stick with demi lashes instead. If you can't find demi lashes, you can also cut a full strip of falsies into pieces. Apply the demi lashes to the outside half of your lid only. To blend the real with the fake, apply a coat of mascara to all the lashes.

All The Extras

Almond eyes adorned in deep, dark shadow make an unmistakable style statement. So let your gaze take center stage and keep the rest of your makeup simple and dewy. Try pairing black eye shadow with creamy peach blush and soft glossy lips. Flawless skin and well-groomed brows are a must.
