If you crave a dramatic nighttime makeup look, neutral eye shadow colors just won't do. Be bold by choosing a black and blue eye shadow duo for a smoldering look. A light blue eye shadow shade will sharply contrast the dark black shadow, creating an alluring appearance. The stand-out dark shadow combination is ideal for New Year's Eve bashes, black tie affairs or any other time you want to enchant a crowd.

1.

Prime your eyelids with a creamy base to make sure the eye shadow stays in place. Apply a few dots of base to a finger, and gently smooth it onto your eyelids.

2.

Dip an eye shadow applicator or brush into matte black eye shadow. Tap the applicator or brush against the eye shadow container to remove any loose powder. Apply the black eye shadow to your lower lids, from the eyelashes to the crease, working from the corner of the eye out in a sweeping motion.

3.

Dip another eye shadow applicator or brush into a shimmering, silvery blue eye shadow, which will complement the black color. Tap the applicator or brush against the container to remove any excess powder. Apply the blue eye shadow from your eyelid crease to your brow bone to highlight your eyes, working from the inside of the eye out in a sweeping motion.

4.

Blend the two colors together at the eye creases with a clean eye shadow brush, using small circular motions, to create a seamless look. Dip a cotton swab in eye makeup remover to remove any messy areas.
