Baking soda is probably one of the most versatile items in your kitchen. Not only can you use it to absorb stinky odors lurking in your fridge, but it can make your cookies nice and soft, too. You can also use this impressive product to wash your face. Baking soda is an all-natural, cheap way to get your face clean and soft, and using it has quite a few benefits.

Effective at Cleaning

Baking soda is often touted for its cleaning abilities, so it makes sense to use it as a face wash. It helps eliminate dirt, oil and bacteria on your face, without stripping or drying it out. Mix 2 teaspoons of baking soda with 1 teaspoon of water until they form a paste. Rub the mixture on your face, then rinse it off with warm water. Your face should look clean and refreshed and feel oh-so-good.

Excellent Exfoliant

Store-bought exfoliants are often made with harsh ingredients that leave your skin feeling irritated. If this is the case for you, try switching it up by using baking soda as your exfoliating ingredient. Baking soda particles are tiny and not too coarse, so they won't rub your skin raw, but they will slough off those ugly and dulling dry skin cells. Mix a tablespoon of baking soda, a tablespoon of warm water with 2 teaspoons of oat flour. Rub the mixture in a circular motion on your face, then allow it to sit for five minutes. Rinse it off and voila--your skin is soft and revived.

Fights Acne

If you're plagued by pimples, you may want to give baking soda a try. Mix a small amount of baking soda and water together until they form a paste. Wipe the paste gently on your face and then allow it to sit for a minute. Rinse with water and repeat the process daily. The baking soda may help to send those pimples packing and is gentle on your skin, unlike many other acne treatments.

Good for the Earth, Your Skin and Your Wallet

Baking soda is green, all-natural and cheap. You can't say that about many facial washes. This pantry staple won't harm the environment when it is washed down your drain, and it won't use potentially harmful chemicals to clean your skin, unlike many facial washes. Plus, it's seriously cost effective. You won't have to pay much to keep your skin looking healthy and clean.
