Sometimes you just don't feel like blow drying your hair, so you opt for no-fuss air dry, which is simply allowing your hair to dry naturally throughout the day. Gals who love this method can attest to its many benefits. If you want less heat damage to your locks, consider continuing to let your hair air dry. Your locks will love you for it!

Limited Heat Damage

The most obvious benefit of allowing your hair to air dry is the fact that you'll skip the heat damage your hair would incur with a blow dry. If you have dry or damaged hair, you especially may want to consider air drying your hair in lieu of blow drying it. If you do decide to blow dry your hair, though, always use a heat protectant to limit damage to your precious locks.

Casual Style

Many girls who go for the air dry appreciate that natural, beachy look their hair has, as opposed to a perfectly polished style. If you've got waves or light curls, you'll really love the way your hair looks when it's air dried. Or, if you're into braids or buns, you can create that "messy" look by braiding or bunning your hair while it's air drying. Alternately, if you've got straight hair, braid your hair and unbraid it after it's dry to reveal loose, sexy waves.

Curly Hair Styling Tips

Just because you're air drying that gorgeous mane of yours that doesn't mean you can forget about products altogether if you've got thick, curly hair or waves. Always apply a gel or other styling aid to your curls to make sure that they don't frizz during the day and will look fly without the flyaways. Also, never touch your hair while it's air drying, since this will cause frizz.

Types of Hair for Air Drying

While air drying is a great option for tons of gals, others may need the assistance of a blow dryer to keep their hair in check. If you've got extremely curly or coarse hair that "shrinks" after it's been wet, you'll probably want to blow dry your hair and style it with a flat iron or sleep in rollers overnight. Of course, coarse-haired women can always use a styling aid formulated for ethnic hair and allow their hair to air dry that way. Or, if you've got hair that's too thick to wear down, why not pull it into a tight ponytail or bun and let it air dry that way? The break from the heat will be well worth a day with letting your locks loose!
