Almost every backless option requires some type of adhesive. The best backless bra varies according to functionality, durability and the type of garment worn over the bra. For some, price may be a deciding factor for the winner in the best category.

The Sassybax Very Bare Backless Bra offers smaller-breasted women a backless and strapless option with breast-enhancing features. The bra is made of a washable, microfiber fabric and features integrated pushup pads in the AA and A sizes. The bra's silicone lining holds it in place even during "sweaty dance sessions," according to Makeda Saggau-Sackey of Glamazondiaries.com. The Sassybax Very Bare Backless Bra is available in cup sizes AA, A, B, C, D, and DD and comes with a removable halter strap. The side support tabs can be trimmed for a custom fit. Maidenform's Adhesive Lite Bra is suited for fashions that are backless and feature a plunging neckline. The silicone-lined, adhesive bra is made of lightweight foam covered with 100 percent polyester. It can be hand washed with mild detergent. Machine washing or soaking the undergarment in water will destroy the silicone adhesive lining. The bra sells for $28 and comes with clear straps that provide extra support. It is available in sizes ranging from 34A to 36D. The Combo Wing Bra by Maidenform offers the same features as the Lite Bra with one important difference: the adhesive for the Combo Wing Bra is on the wings only. The Combo Wing version is available in sizes 34A to 36D and retails for $32.
Waterproof
Developed in 2002 by Bragel International Inc., the NuBra allows wearers to enjoy bra support even while swimming. The NuBra is a backless and strapless bra that features two separate, self-adhesive cups for flexibility and support. According to Bragel, "the specially formulated PSA adhesive" is lab-tested and proven to be skin friendly. The adhesive regains its tackiness during washings and is reusable up to 100 times. The bra is invisible under sheer clothing and cleavage is enhanced by the front closure. The NuBra is available in A, B, and C cup sizes with extenders available for larger sizes. The price of the NuBra varies according to retailer.
Convertible
The Six-Way Convertible Clear Strap Bra by Shapefx offers versatility and functionality. The bra design features a smooth cup shape with underwires and push-up pads sewn in to enhance cleavage. The bra gives a backless appearance by way of clear straps that are nearly invisible to the naked eye. The straps adjust so they can be worn in six different ways to accommodate different clothing styles. Unlike the other backless options, the Shapefx does not require an adhesive. The convertible bra is made of polyester and Spandex and is available in black and animal print. The true limiting factor is the number of sizes available. According to the manufacturer's web site, the Six-Way Convertible Clear Strap is only available in sizes 34A, 34B and 36B. The retail price of the Six-Way is $19.
