Beauty comes in endless varieties. Likewise, every eye has a different shape. Women whose eyes are less than almond-shaped may find that standard eyeshadow techniques don't work for them. If this sounds familiar, you can still enjoy dramatic eyeshadows. With only a few adjustments to your cosmetic application, you can create a gorgeous smoky-eyed look. Large, round eyes become even more alluring with the right makeup. Remember that you don't have to look like everyone else to bring out the beauty that is yours alone.

1.

Apply eyeliner by lining the upper lash line from the inner corners to extending just past the outer edge. This line should begin thinner, and gradually become thicker as it progresses across the lash line. The lower lash line can either be left unlined, or the line should be much thinner.

2.

Apply a "darker neutral" tone of eyeshadow to the entire upper eyelid up to the curve of the eye socket, such as a smoky bluish gray, a warm taupe, bronze or other medium earth tone. This should be neither the lightest, nor the darkest, tone among the eyeshadows you've chosen. If you used eyeliner on your lower lids in the above step, use the tip of the applicator to apply the same color lightly along the lower lash line. Place an eyeshadow shade that is at least one shade darker in the crescent-shaped indentation below your brow bone. Use this same color on the outer half of your eyelid and extend the color upward, and outward until the color nearly touches the outer tip of your eyebrow at a 45-degree angle. Place the lightest shade of eyeshadow on your brow bone beneath your eyebrows.

3.

Add mascara to your eyelashes, placing at least two coats on the upper lashes. Emphasize and lengthen the lashes at the outer third of each eye (with slightly less mascara on the inner and middle lashes) to enhance the optical illusion of more almond-shaped eyes further.

4.

Go ultra-glam with a brightly colored lip color, or opt for haute couture chic with a neutral or nude lipstick to offset your beautiful smoky eyes.
