Sexy, smoky eyes are definitely hot but for many women that look seems too intimidating to create. Toss your fears aside and embrace the smoky look while playing up your oval eye shape. Getting smoky eyes is easier than you think as long as you have the right tools. Choose deep, intense base colors for the best smoky, smudged look along with a pearly highlighting color to brighten your oval eyes and make them look big and beautiful.

1.

Apply a thin layer of cream-based concealer to your eyelids using your fingers. The layer of concealer prepares the surface so that you can smoothly apply shadow. If you are out of concealer, use an eyeshadow primer or foundation in a pinch.

2.

Start lining your eyes using a pencil liner in a dark color from the outer edge of your lashes. Make the line thin at the edge of your eye, and gradually thicken the line at the middle of your eye. The extra thickness in the middle of the lashes makes oval eyes appear rounder and bigger. As you line the inner corner, make the line thin again. Repeat on the lower lid.

3.

Smudge the eyeliner gently using an eyelash brush, or a cotton swab. Use light pressure and a swiping motion to move the eyeliner from left to right, instead of up and down. The smudged liner is crucial to the smoky look.

4.

Apply a dark colored eyeshadow, such as black or gray, along your eyelid using an eye shadow brush. Tap your brush to remove excess shadow and pick up the medium tone. Brush the medium toned shadow into the brow bone, blending well to avoid obvious lines between the dark and medium shadows.

5.

Make your eyes pop by applying a light, pearly shadow to the inner and outer corners of your eyes. The brightness at the corner of your eyes offsets the oval shape to make eyes appear larger.

6.

Finish off your sexy smoky look by curling your lashes and then applying a coat of mascara. Get out there and bat those sexy, smoky eyes.
