Choose your color palette first, according to the look you want. Sephora provides a range of palettes with colors varying from light and frosty to bold and dynamic within each palette. Your choice of palette depends on your personal preferences -- each palette can create either casual or dramatic eyes depending on how you apply the eye shadows.

Brush a light, matte color over your eyelids from the lashes up to the brow line. Cover this area completely with this light base color. A light green, brown, gray or pink all make great starts to stunning eyes.

Find a darker color in the same color palette and define the crease of your eyes. Dab this color onto the eye shadow brush and brush on this color over the creases of your eyes from the center out to the outer corners. Blend the darker color in well with the base color using the flat brush.

Sweep the same color you used on your creases beneath your eyes using the liner brush to enhance dramatic eyes. Skip this step if you prefer everyday, casual eyes.

Choose eyeliner in the same color family and line your top lashes. Extend the eyeliner out past the outside corners of your eyes and make a tiny wing for extra drama and definition. If you need casual eyes, stop the eyeliner at the outer corner.
