1.
Remove the polishing pads from the microdermabrasion kit and apply one pad to the rotary plate on the scrubbing tool. These tiny pads are the same type skin care professionals use to scrub off dead cells and to open pores.
2.
Turn the hot water on in your bathroom sink and lean over the basin. Put your face as close to the water as you can, letting the steam blast you right in the face. Steam softens your skin and opens pores so they let go of all the gunk and grime.
3.
Apply a dollop of polishing cream to the pad and turn the machine on. Push the pad gently onto your skin, rubbing it around your entire face in small circles for approximately 60 seconds. Concentrate on areas with the biggest pores, such as your nose, chin and cheeks.
4.
Splash your face with warm water to remove residual polishing cream. Wash with a facial cleanser specifically designed to reduce pores, such as an oil-reducing wash. Blot your face completely dry.
5.
Dot a refining cream containing salicylic acid over your pores. Salicylic acid is the same magic bullet found in professional chemical peels, purging and shrinking pores with every application. Dab the product on once a day, spreading it slowly over clean skin for smaller, sexier pores.
If you’ve got sensitive skin, exfoliate once or twice a week to prevent irritation. Pore refining cream should be applied every day unless your skin shows signs of irritation.
Don’t run the microdermabrasion tool over your skin for longer than a minute. Prolonged use may scrub away the upper layer of skin, resulting in pain, scarring and possible infections.
