Your L'Oreal eyeliner is the key to a smooth, smudge-free look. But unless you were born with super steady hands, drawing a clean line around your orbs may not feel like second nature. The key to perfect eyeliner is practice --- no two women wear it in exactly the same way, so take some time to yourself and play around with it.
1.
Situate yourself close to a mirror, about half a foot away. Performing a balancing act while applying eye makeup is a recipe for disaster.
2.
If you're using eye shadow, apply it now. If you apply eye shadow last, you may end up covering your perfect eyeliner or mussing your mascara.
3.
Pick an eyeliner style that complements your eyes. Close-set eyes pair well with liner on just the outer rims of both lids, since it spreads them apart. Wide eyes look good with liner coating both lids from corner to corner.
4.
Insert the pencil in an eyeliner pencil sharpener and gently twist the bottom of the pencil. If you don't want too fine a point, rub the tip of the pencil with your finger to dull the point.
5.
Gently pull back the outer corner of one eye and start drawing a line at the inner corner of your eye, working your way out. If you're new to eyeliner, it might be easier to draw a dotted line first then fill it in. Keep the line as close to your lashes as possible for a seamless, exact look.
6.
Open your eyes widely to apply liner to the bottom lid. Apply liner under the bottom lashes for a natural, open look, or on the inner part of your lid for a darker look.
7.
If a fine, exact line isn't your style, don't fret --- you can still use your L'Oreal eyeliner to create a sultry, smoky look. Apply a smooth eyeliner (one that smudges easily) on your upper and lower lids. Smudge your eyeliner into your shadow with a finger or applicator, then use your L'Oreal pencil on the outer edges of your lids to accent your look.
8.
Use a cotton swab dipped in makeup remover to correct mistakes, or dust eye shadow over your liner to tame down a too-dark color.
Extend the eyeliner beyond the outer corners of your eyes to make your eyes look bigger. For a sultry almond shaped eye, only line the outer halves of both lids, making sure to connect them at the outer corner.
