Liquid eyeliner is to your face what Shakespeare is to the written word -- it's all about the drama. When you have gorgeous oval eyes, why not emphasize them with a gorgeous liner?
1.
Choose your color -- it should depend on your outfit, your coloring and your mood. Black liquid liner is probably the most easily available, but you can find purple, green, brown, blue and any other shade you desire to enhance the shape of your oval eyes. Cool shades like slate and blue look great with brown eyes. Brighter and red based shades are dramatic on green eyes. With blue, stick to neutrals -- unless you want to change up your look, then all rules are out the window.
2.
Take some flesh-colored eye shadow and apply it across your eyelid. If you want to add drama to your look by lining your lower lid with liquid eyeliner, sponge some along your bottom lashes, too. The eye shadow acts as a base to help hold the liquid liner on your skin.
3.
Press the eyeliner wand to the inner edge of your lash line and extend it out to the outer edge, then up a bit. If you want the line to be thicker -- like if you're planning to go dancing or to a very late event -- then make the line wider so it slants up after you've created your base line.
4.
Create the bottom line in the same way, but don't make it thicker. The bottom line should be extremely thin. It should exist as an accent to the top line. Connect it to the very bottom of the top line.
5.
Wait a good five minutes or so before finishing your eye makeup. After it's dry, curl your lashes and apply mascara. Liquid liner will stay on pretty well with the eye shadow base, but don't try this look out in a rainstorm or anything.
Tips & Tricks
Smudge the eyeliner or use a similarly colored eyeshadow on top of liquid liner to create a softer look.
Go easy when using liquid eyeliner on your bottom lashes because too thick a line can look harsh. To avoid the issue altogether, experiment with a light pencil liner on the bottom lashes to focus the drama on the lids.
