Every girl wants big, voluminous hair. But if you're not a fan of using a hair coloring technique to add texture to your hair, that's totally fine -- there are many ways to create texture in fine hair that don't involve you turning to the bleach bottle. By implementing the right hairstyling products and techniques, you can get just as big of a change without the highlights.

1.

Wash your hair with a volumizing shampoo. Follow up with a volumizing conditioner as well -- choose lightweight products to avoid weighing down your already-limp locks. Only add conditioner to the ends of your hair; with your fine hair, an overload of conditioner will leave your hair too limp and lifeless.

2.

Work a small dollop of texturizing balm through your tresses, starting at the roots and working your way down to the ends to creates tons of texture and lift in your locks.

3.

Spritz your hair with some spray gel and blow-dry it, working from the bottom layer up until it's all completely dry. Work in sections -- hold a round brush underneath each section, starting at the roots and moving down the hair until it's dry before moving onto the next. This gives you a surface to blow-dry your hair over and builds up more volume in your hair.

4.

Curl your hair -- work in sections of about 2 to 3 inches wide each -- with a large-barrel curling iron. Keep going until you've got big, loose curls all around your head.

5.

Brush over your curls gently a couple of times to break them up slightly, then work a bit of pomade through your strands to create a more piecey, texturized look.

Tips & Tricks

The shorter you cut your hair, the more voluminous it appears.

Jumbo-sized hot rollers can work in place of a curling iron.

Instantly add volume and texture in your hair with extensions. Clip-in extensions are temporary and go in your hair and come out when you please. Permanent extensions are literally bonded into your hair instead of clipping in and out; typically you need to go to a salon to have professional extensions installed.

Flip your head upside-down for a couple minutes during the blow-dry process to get added texture and lift in your hair.
