You don't need plastic surgery to rock a curvier silhouette. Choose your clothing with curve-enhancing properties in mind, and you can make more of your assets or create something where there once was next to nothing. Your accessories can also make the difference between an athletic build and an hourglass figure. Keep your look in place by wearing supportive, well-fitting undergarments. Your finishing touch: A confident attitude that has you walking tall and radiating style.

Curve-Creating Ensembles

Put together an outfit that adds volume to your top and bottom halves, but narrows at the waist. Pair a top with a plunging neckline with an A-line skirt. Wear a blouse with a dramatic or pointy collar with a flared skirt or bootleg slacks. Glitter, sequins, silk, charmeuse, chiffon and other glam fabrics radiate sex appeal on a ruler-shaped body, while they may a busty body shape look too Las Vegas showgirl.

Play With Proportion

Sharply tailored outfits only add angles to your already slender build, while pieces that contrast proportions soften your silhouette and add movement. Wear a fitted blouse with ruching at the waist with wide-legged trousers. Try a flowing tunic with a pair of peg-legged pants. Top a shift dress with a blazer that nips in at the waist.

The Beauty of Belts

One of the simplest shortcuts to highlighting your waistline is to wear a belt. Go with high-contrast colors, bold prints or wide styles to draw attention to your midsection. If you want to wear a narrow belt, double up with two. Wear your belt high around your waistline rather than hugging your hips for the curviest silhouette.

Soft Shapes

Soften angles on your body with feminine details. A ruffled collar or lacy neckline draws eyes to your torso. Skip boxy fabrics that make your body shape look rectangular and go with fabrics that drape over your shoulders, torso, waist and hips, skimming over your body rather than squeezing it. Asymmetric hemlines or necklines break up the straight lines of your shoulders and legs. Knit tops, dresses and outerwear hug your torso and hips and make you look curvier.

Underneath It All

You can invest in curve-enhancing undergarments such as padded bras and body shapers or you can just wear underwear that lifts and separates. A well-fitting bra creates length in your waist while supporting your breasts. Underwear with stretchy fabric lifts sagging areas to make your lower half appear curvier.
