Styles come in and out of fashion all the time. While past years have seen a rise in '20s, '30s and '80s fashion, 2011 is all about the '70s. From big hats to platform shoes, add glamour to your wardrobe by embracing the decade of disco. Just don't overdo it or you may look like you just stepped out of "Saturday Night Fever" circa 1977. A little bit of '70s fashion goes a long way!

1.

Make little alterations to your current wardrobe. Pack away those skinny jeans and bust out bell-bottomed jeans instead. This '70s-chic look will inspire envious glances as your jeans flow with you down the street.

2.

Kick up the color. The '70s were rife with bright colors in the autumn and spring color palettes. Go for salmon tops or emerald headbands. Cover yourself in rust, tangerine, navy and gold.

3.

Go for platforms. Chunky heels will not only elevate your height, but your style as well. Cork and wooden soles have the dash of retro flair needed to take your outfit to the next level.

4.

Cover yourself with a brightly colored maxi dress. Long dresses were the height of '70s fashion and are now back in force. Keep the hem no higher than your ankle for this comfortable and flowing fashion statement.

5.

Sun in style. Top your dome with a floppy hat. If you want to take this summer style a step further, throw on some large-lens sunglasses with thick black frames.

6.

Big is better. Flip your 'do upside-down and spray the bottom layer with extra-hold spray. You'll have that '70s big hair look without much fuss.

7.

Bust out black liquid eyeliner for an instant retro overhaul. As you slide the tip across your lid, create a point coming away from your eye at the outside corner of your lid. Cat-eye makeup was all the rage in the '70s.

Tips & Tricks

Try just a few '70s wardrobe accents for each outfit so you don't overdo it.

If you've never worn platforms, start out small. Falling on your face isn't the kind of fashion statement you want to make.
