Accessories That Complement Sequins

Whether you're decked out in sparkly sequins from head to toe, or wearing a sequin-laden jacket, styling around this decadent look can become frustrating. You don't want your accessories to fade into the background, but you also don't want to create a ton of competition within your ensemble. Take some new accessories for a whirl with your spangled self and your accessory fears will fall by the wayside.

Sparkly Jewelry

When you're donning sequins and you're trying to figure out how to bring jewelry into the mix, go for the area of your body that is not covered in sequins. Trying to throw on a pretty necklace over a sequin dress is not going to cut it -- the necklace will seem to visually disappear. Imagine you're decked out in a gold-tone, sequin minidress with a round neckline and long sleeves. Accessorize your look with earrings -- go for as much sparkle and shine as you can so your jewelry gets as much attention as your dress. Think crystal-encrusted danglers -- perfect.

Leather Bag

If you're a woman who loves a sequin jacket with an otherwise laid-back outfit, choosing your handbag can be a tad difficult. Visualize yourself in a black T-shirt and dark blue straight-leg jeans. Your feet are clad in nude platform pumps. For your topper, you pull on a black sequin blazer. Go for a leather bag -- the matte fabric won't compete with your blazer the way patent leather will. Since your jacket is quite intense, go for a bold-hued bag or one with an all-over print. Think neon blue hobo bag or cheetah-print clutch. Adorable.

Studded Footwear

If there's a part of you that worries about wearing sequins because you might give off an old-fashioned vibe instead of a young, fresh one -- accessorize with the proper footwear and you're a shoe-in! Envision yourself in a multi-jewel-tone, crew-neck, sequin-covered top with three-quarter sleeves. Pull on a pair of black skinny jeans and your look is almost complete. Step into a pair of black stiletto-heel ankle boots with all-over antiqued brass pyramid studs for a super-current finish.

Black Belt, Clutch and Shoes

When you're wearing a fantastic sequin-covered dress and need to throw your accessories together without over-thinking things, opt for black -- it always works. Imagine you're wearing a sleeveless sheath dress that falls just below your knees -- it's covered in mint-green sequins. Gather black accessories with a matte finish to avoid creating any extra shine. Wrap a black suede belt around your waist for an hourglass shape. Slide your feet into black matte leather pumps. Pull it all together with a black velvet clutch and you're ready to go.
